Top 5 beaches near Mumbai for an exotic weekend getaway

Most of us would love a nice coastal weekend getaway with the family: just sun, sand and some authentic coastal food. Maharashtra is a unique state which has 700 Km of coastline and has some fantastic and serene beaches. Mumbai the capital of Maharashtra has beaches like Juhu, Chowpatty, Marve, Versova etc. But these are under tremendous environmental danger due to urbanisation. They are also dirty, noisy, overcrowded and are not fit for a family getaway.

If you want to enjoy some untouched, pristine and serene beauty then you would have to step out of Mumbai.

Here is a list of some popular beaches which have still maintained their natural beauty

Bordi Beach – Dahanu

Bordi beach is around 150 km and 3 hours drive from Mumbai. It is also famous for its chickoos and its well styled colonial Parsi bungalows. There are many places to stay at Bordi. We would recommend a good Parsi hotel with some authentic Parsi/Iranian cuisine.
