Beauty tips for teenagers

Teenagers belong to an experimental stage, a stage we have been through and a stage coming generations will go through. Most of them are very concerned about their appearance and how they look. This is a stage, wherein they are more worried about their skin, body and appearance. They worry about their skin, acne and are very conscious about their weight. The best advice that anyone can give to them is to follow a healthy and nutritious diet with plenty of water. In other words, junk food should be strictly avoided.

Most teenagers are influenced by wrong and extreme dieting which leads to anorexia. They have their role models as actors and models who live a very unhealthy lifestyle to maintain their thin bodies. It is important to tell your children to eat healthy food and include all the different types of healthy fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains in their daily diet.

Some of the important things to understand are:

1. The hair quality of adolescents is influenced by their food patterns. It is important for them to include vegetables, salads, brown rice, oats, flax seeds, oily fish, dates, raisins, pumpkin seeds and other fresh fruits in their daily diet.

2. The chlorophyll (green colour) in vegetables helps in nourishing and keeping the skin clear.

3. Acne is one of the biggest problems of adolescent years. Teenagers get worried at the first sight of a boil or pimple. Remember never get paranoid about a pimple. One pimple is not going to change your look or make you unattractive instantly. Instead of being paranoid, be calm about it and look for the causes which need to be addressed.

Some of the factors resulting in acne are as follows:

a) Lack of sleep, poor skin hygiene, dandruff, excessive use of cheap cosmetics, constipation and an improper diet.
b) Do not burst your pimple or force the boil to open as it will lead to dark scars that will last for a long time.
c) Avoid shellfish like crabs and prawns, tea, coffee, oily and junk foods.
d) It is important to know that natural and organic packs have to be applied from childhood for a clean and clear skin. In adolescent years, you can include fruits and vegetables not only in your diets but also in your face and skin packs.

Here is an easy homemade face pack for removing acne :

Mint Margosa pack

Ingredients
30 Mint leaves
15 Margosa (Neem) Leaves
½ Cucumber
1 tsp. honey
½ cup of buttermilk

Method:

Grind all the ingredients except the buttermilk and make a fine paste. Apply the paste on your face and neck. After 10 minutes wash your face and neck with buttermilk and after another 5 minutes rinse your face and neck with plain water. You can apply this pack twice a day for better results.

4. Coloured Hair
Most teenagers are always tempted to experiment with their hair. They straighten, dye and colour their hair. However, due to chemical elements involved, the hair structure is thoroughly damaged. Ideally teenagers should avoid the usage of chemicals on their hair. However that is not at all acceptable to today’s teenager. So here is a simple hair pack for restoring your hair’s health.

Papaya and aloe vera hair pack

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup papaya paste
  • ½ cup olive oil
    1 cup thick coconut milk
  • 2 dashes of almond oil
    1 cup aloe vera pulp

Mix all the ingredients except for the almond oil. Add the almond oil last. Apply the mixture on the scalp and hair. After about 25 minutes use a mild shampoo and conditioner and rinse it off.

The above are some of the ways in which you can take care of your skin and hair to have a healthy body.
